Humanities and Social Sciences:

Unlocking Your True Potential

I'm in the eleventh grade under the strand Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS). I have an interest in writing and reading, and due to these reasons, I became a Humanista. Ironically, for a student who fears public speaking, I still pursued the strand. I chose the HUMSS strand because of two major reasons: First, during the pandemic, I discovered myself somewhat immersed in writing and reading fiction. Second, the careers I consider happen to be in the same field subjects in the HUMSS strand. The minor reasons were to unleash me from my comfort zone and fight my fear of public speaking.

When I entered the strand, at first, I was doubtful of my capabilities. Questions like, "What if my limitation is not enough ?" "What if I can't voice myself out?" bombarded my head. Well, they say, "You'll never know unless you try." And it is

Despite these questions and the fear of mine, I can slowly tell that I've gained confidence. I remember our first activity in our subject, Creative Writing, which is to creatively write something about our chosen topic. I poured all of my emotions into writing that piece, and I was proud of myself for being able to share it in a large group regardless of my fear. I also notice myself looking forward to our recitations since it allows me to express my opinions.

In the HUMSS strand, you can discover new skills and abilities, release your full potential, and gain knowledge about our society. The strand encourages you to listen and understand different opposing views or perspectives. The HUMSS is a strand that will not stop you from being creative and imaginative, and this strand is a whole journey to explore because it talks about life in society.

The Adventures of a fellow HUMSS student

I am a student of HUMSS 11 in Saint Augustine' School, I chose this strand in order to pursue my passion in writing and the social sciences. Even though all I've passed is a semester and a half, I've been more indulged in this track than when I first took interest in it. I, myself had troubles choosing my strand, for a while I failed to see the appeal of any of the choices that they provided, it was stressful as my time to choose ran out - but now you'll see what our strand can provide.

You might be in the same situation where nothing in the moment interests you, where you are confused on what you want to pick for a strand that you'll be stuck with for the two years of senior high school.

Well, this paper is just what you need to deepen your knowledge in the Humanities and Social Sciences strand. This strand exciting, you will, with no doubt would enjoy your time in SHS when you choose the HUMSS track. If debates

Because I want to explore, be open minded, and expand my knowledge and understanding in the fields of understanding our culture, politics, society, and our own selves. Yes, there are times that I questioned myself on why did I chose this strand where there’s no chill time, we have loads of paperworks, and new requirements after submitting the other one.

WHY CHOOSING HUMSS STRAND CAN LEAD TO A FULFILLING CAREER AND LIFE

The HUMSS strand teaches in an unusual method, similar to reading someone's diary. HUMSS students, like a diary, dive deeply into the humanities and social sciences, examining human experiences and emotions. They read books and analyze them in ways that go beyond simple comprehension, much as reading someone's diary required close attention to detail and interpretation. Students at HUMSS also participate in discussions that challenge their perspectives, similar to how reading someone's diary might transform one's view of that person. HUMSS students gain critical thinking abilities and empathy as a result of this process, helping them to better understand themselves and others. Moreover, the HUMSS strand offers a one-of-a-kind learning experience that promotes personal development and a greater knowledge of the human condition.

HUMSS STRAND

HUMSS is all about educating students on the foundations of the human behavior and how they have come to influence different societal phenomenon such as arts, culture, religion, literature, and even the politics of their era.The HUMSS strand revolves around improving the students reading, writing and one of the benefit of this is your speaking skills will enhance and your it will help you to boost your confidence. HUMSS helps us better understand who we are, our identity as a people, a society and a culture, and how to organise our societies to achieve our goals.

I'm jonathan castillo from HUMSS 11, who wants to enhance my skills that’s why i chose to be in this track. A lot of people are saying that this track is the easiest but they we’re wrong. HUMSS is flooded with a lot of paper works especially essays. But i know that all of this stress will help me to enhance my skills. At first i was a STEM student but i moved to this track because the subjects here are more easy than STEM. One of my reason that’s why i chose this strand was i know that i can develop my special skills to be better at communicating to my future customers and other people as well this strand is not applicable to the course the course that i want to take in college but i know that this strand will help me to be better. Developing my skills will make me be a better leader and to manage difficult tasks with ease because i honed and developed my skills to its limits, almost perfect is the proper term in my opinion and also be a role model to others

Who aspire to take the career i pursued when i was at their perpective and everything. Maybe 10 years from now i will be one of hosts of the school’s career talk to encourage students to study hard and work hard also for their future. One of the best experiences that i’ve had in this strand was when our teacher is having a discussion.but it always end up with a story telling and gossip that is really helpful. I can advice that you should take this strand especially when you want to improve your speaking skills and how to socialize with other. this strand is such a helpful thing that’s why you should take this. This strand is worth choosing!!

How did they end up as a HUMSS student today i'm going to share the reasons how it become report of the humanities and social sciences strand. Let me start from the beginning at first humanities and social sciences was not my first choice as a senior high school strand because way back then i can't decide what career path i would take so i said to myself i'm going to take general academics strand (GAS) as my strand as i think about what i would choose as my future profession but when i started to enroll on this new school that my family wants me to go to they said they only got three strand and those three are Humanities and Social Sciences(HUMSS), Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics(STEM) and (ABM) or Accounting and Business Management.

Brush Stroke Element

"How I became a Humanista"

So i have to rethink what strand i would choose in the three a lot of people recommended that i should take stem as my strand because at the time all i answer to people when they ask me what career i would you choose. and i'll always answer maybe a nurse so they started telling me in that i should take stem if i want to be a nurse. then my school at the time had a seminar online how about what strand would suit us based on what we want so i attended the seminar and they also said if you want to take nursing you should take stem but i said to myself humanities and social sciences would benefit me more than stem because learning about the traits characteristics culture beliefs and how the human mind works maybe gave me more idea about understanding human characteristics which would help me understand my patient properly other than that lessons they teach at stem like crunching numbers on a calculator which at the time i have considered to be less helpful in my future career. being a humanista develop my social skills which i think is a great help and a foundation for me to become a nurse being a nurse require good social skills in order to communicate and understand your patience much clearer how did i develop my social skills here in humanities and social sciences has great and amazing activities that will develop your communicating skills these activities are debate and reporting witch humanista do occasionally now that i've become a humanista more than half a year now i can proudly say that i am glad in choosing my strand the humanities and social sciences most commonly known as (HUMSS)
